Introduction

  • In this tutorial, we will show you the necessary steps to block one or more IPs from accessing the site using the IP Blocker tool in the cPanel control panel.

Requirements

  • a cPanel account

Steps

To access and manage the IP Blocker tool, you must follow the steps below:

1. Access the cPanel and go to the Security section, specifically IP Blocker

2. Once you access "IP Blocker", the page below will open and you will have the option to block an IP or an entire class of IPs.

You can also enter a valid fully qualified domain name instead of an IP address, and the IP Blocker will identify its IP address while blocking it at the same time.

IP address blocking can be done in the following formats, according to the image above:

Single IP Address - A single IP address is blocked, regardless of whether it is IPV4 or IPV6

Interval - An IP range is blocked. A range of IPs from a class of IPs can be added, for example from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.40.  The IP Blocker will block all specified IP numbers from that class, from the first to the last IP mentioned in the Interval.

Implicit interval - It is the shorter version of the Interval mode mentioned above (implicit).

CIDR format - It blocks the entire specified class of IPs.

Involves 192.*.*.* - This format blocks all IPs and classes that start with the specified number.

3. To delete/remove a blocked IP or an IP class, click the Delete button and that IP will be able to access the site again.
