Dissatisfied with the backup/restore speed of R1Soft, we searched for alternatives both commercial and Open Source in order to improve these aspects.
Although for the user the backup speed may not represent a direct interest factor, the restore speed is crucial for the quickest possible recovery of a user's account elements, whether it's emails, website data, or databases.
This speed depends, in the case of website elements and databases, on the downtime period of a website.
After evaluating several alternatives, we have implemented Bareos as a solution. This is a complex open-source software solution for backup/restoration.
By using this solution, we have managed to significantly reduce the time required for both making backups and restoring them.
PostgreSQL
In order to expand the range of services we offer, we have decided to adopt a new database system. Thus, starting today, in addition to MySQL, we will also offer PostgreSQL.
PostgreSQL like MySQL is also a relational database management system.
There are various reasons why one might choose one of the two systems, but this largely depends on user preferences and the purpose of the application that will use the databases.
Both can and are used in various environments with different security and performance requirements and with multiple programming languages.
Regardless of the reason you may have for choosing one of the two databases, you will find both with us.
