Creating an email box in the ISPConfig control panel.
Create and configure email accounts in ISPConfig with simple steps. Learn how to add mailboxes, manage options, and filters for email.
Introduction
- The ISPConfig control panel allows the creation and configuration of an unlimited number of email accounts associated with the hosted domains.
Requirements
- The administration details of the ISPConfig panel received in the email inbox associated with the Hostico account when the VPS was activated.
Steps to follow
- First, we will connect to the ISPConfig control panel using one of the access addresses:
https://SERVERNAME:10200
or
https://SERVER_IP:10200
or
https://DOMAIN.XX:10200
- Once we have logged into the panel, we will click on the Email button in the navigation bar.
- Next, we will click on Email Mailbox from the Email Accounts category.

The addition of the mailbox will be done using the button Add new Mailbox.

In the next window, we will fill in the fields as follows:
-Name: The name of the mailbox, optional, for display/filtering in the list of already created mailboxes;
-Email: The name of the email mailbox. For example, we enter "office" in the completion field, and to the right, in the dropdown field, we select the domain for which we will create the mailbox. The result will be - office@selecteddomain.xx;
-Password: The desired password typed manually or generated from the button: Generate Password;
-Repeat Password: Typing the password again or auto-completing the automatically generated password;
-Quota (0 for unlimited): The disk space allocated to the email mailbox. It is recommended to set the value to "0" for unlimited space;
-Send copy to: Used to automatically send a copy of any message delivered to this mailbox to another different email mailbox. Multiple mailboxes can be entered, separated by commas;
-Copy during delivery: This checkbox affects the above option Send copy to. If checked, the copy sent to the above addresses will not pass through any filters defined on the Mail Filter tab, also on this page;
-Send outgoing BCC to: Used to automatically send a copy of any message sent from this mailbox (Sent) to another different email mailbox. Only one mailbox can be added in this field;
-Spamfilter: The aggressiveness of the anti-spam filter. The value "Normal" is recommended;
-Enable receiving: Activating/deactivating message reception in this mailbox. It is recommended to check this box;
-Disable sending: Activating/deactivating the sending of messages from this mailbox. It is recommended that this box be unchecked;
-Disable (local) delivering: Activating/deactivating message entries in INBOX (messages are automatically sent only to the address in the field: Send copy to). It is recommended that this box be unchecked;
-Enable greylisting: Activating/deactivating an additional anti-spam filter. It is recommended to check this box;
-Disable IMAP: Activating/deactivating access to the mailbox via the IMAP protocol;
-Disable POP3: Activating/deactivating access to the mailbox via the POP3 protocol;
Next, to create the box, we will click the Save button in the bottom right corner.

From this point, the box will be created and is usable. The functionalities presented further in the tutorial are optional and will be configured only if needed.
- After creating the mailbox, we will be able to access it again with a click on its name from the list in the Email Mailbox option, to modify any options if necessary. For example, to change the password set for the mailbox.
- In the Autoresponder tab we can create automatic reply messages that will be sent back to the sender (For example: On vacation, I will return on, etc).

In the Mail filter tab, we can set customizable additional filters for the email messages sent to the mailbox, which will run automatically before they enter the Inbox, performing various configurable actions from the Add new Filter button.
